To celebrate my dad’s birthday we ventured into Manhattan to Rezdora. While this Italian opened its doors in 2019, it has remained impossible to get in to. Hence I only snagged a table for a weekday lunch, and I’m about to tell you why its Michelin star is well deserved.
So when I made the reservation on resy.com, I not only specified it was for my vegetarian dad’s birthday, but 1 of the guests (me!) was wheelchair bound. Upon my arrival, staff quickly set up a beautiful ramp for me which made the couple steps down at the entrance negligible. Ofcourse we sat at the bar area of this small bi-level, but it is all so charming and welcoming and I easily rolled up to my table.

The waiter remembered the vegetarian guest and guided my dad to the many vegetarian options. I should mention my mom and I are mostly vegetarian thanks to my dad’s influence, but we are also very drawn to the vegetarian antipasti and pasta of Italy.
My mom and dad both had INSALATA FRESCA DI FINOCCHIO (fennel, arugula, peas, fava, pecorino sardo & mint while I had FETT' UNTA (toasted bread with extra virgin oil), but it was right then my mom got an emergency call from a family friend that cut short our celebration. My dad explained this to our waiter and somehow the kitchen sped up everything for us without sacrificing the wonderful food. My mom had the TAGLIATELLE POMODORO and my dad and I each had UOVO RAVIOLO DI NINO BERGESE (corn puree, finferli & tartufo nero) accompanied by WARM SEASONAL GREENS and CIPOLLINI followed by a quick dessert of pistachio cake (with candle!) and tiramisu. I absolutely enjoyed everything except I found the tiramisu to be a little bitter, but that’s actually how I remember it being in Italy. In fact the whole experience felt authentically Italian from the rustic wooden tables, blue and white pottery and wine bottles galore, not to mention the small sized portions of house made pasta. Indeed I hope to go back for the vegetarian pasta tasting offered for dinner 🙏🏽. Grazie mille Rezdora!

Unfortunately I cannot say anything about the restroom being handicapped friendly because I thankfully don’t have a bladder the size of a peanut and we didn’t stay very long anyway.
I should also mention I have been to many many restaurants in Manhattan, many of them flat and quite wheelchair friendly. But why specify Rezdora? Precisely because there are steps but they made me feel so welcome and comfortable with a top notch ramp. You should never feel like a burden due to a handicap and this place respects that . Plus the food was stellar.
Your descriptions of the food made my mouth water! I hope that I will get to eat here before long - we LOVE Italian food!
